Give Back To Uganda!

HELP ORPHANED STUDENTS TAKE AN EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY THAT LEADS BACK HOME...

Let the journey begin through scholarship...

HIV/AIDS and civil conflict in the North have orphaned and made vulnerable a million Ugandan children. As a result of this tragedy, many of these youngsters are now in institutional settings in Kampala and throughout Uganda. Some are talented and gifted students and have the aptitude to thrive in an international setting and become future community and business leaders. A commitment to campaign for and support the ISU/UNAA SCHOLARSHIP FUND will provide the opportunity to nurture selected students at ISU while they complete their secondary school education and prepare for their university training.

Upon graduation, their acquired skills will be harnessed back in Uganda to contribute to the economic and social development of their country. They will become future ambassadors of this program and help develop Uganda. Become a partner in this journey to transform the lives of these young students.

Shared goals of a unique partnership are harnessed for education...

The International School of Uganda (ISU) and the Uganda North American Association (UNAA) have developed a unique partnership to (enroll these deserving national students at ISU and put them on a college preparatory track. Selected students will start their ISU education in the sixth grade and after graduation continue their international education on a full college scholarship at participating institutions identified by the partners.

UNAA members will mentor these students from the start. A key element in this mentoring process will include assistance in the preparation of a Career Plan in their senior year at ISU. The circle will be completed in this plan when they return to Uganda for internships and career positions after they have completed their studies.

Join the campaign to fund the education of these deserving students...

UNAA members will seek out individual, foundation, and corporate sponsors to help underwrite the expenses for this unique scholarship program. The donor base in Uganda cannot sustain this program over time. Donors solicited and acknowledged in North America can help to ensure that the funds are available for each scholarship student to complete their secondary education at ISU and successfully enroll for university studies. Scholarship support for up to seven years will be required. Discounted tuition fees, transportation, food and the incidental expenses of daily living are also included as part of this program. Put your contacts to work to help achieve this goal.

Scholastic excellence achieved in an international setting...

ISU has celebrated its 40th Anniversary in Uganda. The school has grown from its missionary roots to become one of the leading international schools in Africa. More than 450 students from Uganda as well as more than 50 countries are represented on the well equipped campus that provides an ideal environment for young minds. ISU is a not-for-profit institution governed by a Board of Trustees that is elected by a membership association composed of the parents. Alumni graduates study at leading colleges and universities throughout the world. The faculty, staff, and student body are prepared and looking forward to undertaking this unique challenge and turn this educational opportunity into a reality for these deserving students.

Prepared to leverage the talents of our members to bring change to Uganda through scholarship...!

UNAA is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1993. It was initially composed primarily of Ugandans living in the United States and Canada. Now it has an active chapter in Uganda and members in several other African countries. As one of its core values, UNAA is interested in supporting and fostering philanthropic and business activities that are rooted in Uganda. The ISU/UNAA Scholarship program was approved by the UNAA Board of Directors in 2007 to provide educational opportunities to young deserving Ugandans with the added dimension of mentoring these young students on their career track both in Uganda and North America. The volunteer activists responsible for developing this unique Scholarship Program in North America are drawn from our talented membership base.
